LifeDox makes use of unique technology developed by the Corporation for National Research Initiatives, CNRI, and its president, Dr. Robert Kahn, a co-inventor of the Internet. CNRI's technology allows for management of the diverse information generated by multiple healthcare providers. The digital object architecture designed by CNRI:
- allows for the inclusion of multiple information types assuring systems interoperability, and
- has been tested with over a billion records showing that it is flexible, secure and scalable.
It provides a common interface based on the use of identifiers that can be applied to existing repository or storage systems thus permitting direct interactions with any and all types of digital objects.
